Student Interchange
Specific Programs
ACADEMIC – includes the following three components:
Academic Lectures – Cuban University Professors present lectures on core academic topics selected by the teacher. Core topics included in previous programs include; history, politics, economics, sociology, environmental issues, ecology, flora & fauna, sociology, art, music, culture & literature (but we will add as you require) If necessary, immediate translation will be provided.
Interchange Component – visiting students will be matched with Cuban University students on as close to a 2:1 ratio as is possible. They will build their friendships through a series of activities where they work together – dance, music, tours, trips to market, etc
Core Tours – to augment the various lectures chosen by your teacher specifically for your group, we will tour specific areas of significance. For example these are a few usually included:
- Havana ‘Old City’ – history, economics, politics, literature, etc.
- San Severino Fortress – links to history, slavery, revolution
- Coffee Plantation – links to economy, slavery, etc.
- Varadero – economics, tourism
- Afro-Cubano Religion Museum – religion, philosophy, slavery, native peoples, history
SPORTS
Baseball, Volleyball, Soccer
- Double Hosted by both the University and a Special Sports High School.
- Lectures about the significance and development of whatever specific sport is your interest
- Experience Cuban Training Methods
- Play at least THREE games against Cuban teams of a comparable age.
- Attend a professional Cuban game (if applicable to your sport)
MUSIC
SPECIFIC DANCE, ART, and THEATRE PROGRAMS ARE ALSO AVAILABLE – EACH STRUCTURED SIMILARLY TO THE MUSIC PROGRAM.
- Double Hosted by both the University and a Special Music/Arts School.
- Lectures about the origins of Latin music and what is uniquely Cuban
- Experience Latin Jazz , Salsa, Meringue, Tango, Bosa Nova, etc
- Work with Cuban student musicians and teacher leaders.
- Attend Cuban performances
- Your group will be entitled to perform up to THREE times in different venues.

When
Provided the Cuban schools are not on holiday breaks or writing exams time slots are available from November to May to suit your schedule.
Please note that the March Break time slots fill quickly.
Two-week and 10 day programs are both available.
